This rug is one of the most important carpet provenances of Iran. The Sarough combines modern living with traditional knotting art. Due to its robust knotting, the Sarough is a hard-wearing carpet with high sound and heat insulation. The wool used is of high quality, shiny and the carpets are robust and hard-wearing. The knotting is very fine and the pile is relatively high. Its timeless design blends in easily with the surroundings and gives a cosy home feeling. Today, carpets of various qualities are knotted in Sarough. The pattern variety of the carpets belongs to the richest and most traditional of the whole Orient and therefore cannot be generalized. They are known for their beautiful medallions, as well as for the well-known patterned Mir pattern.
