The versatile feature set and ability to accept Canon’s entire range of EF and EF-S lenses makes the Canon EOS 70D capable in a wide variety of photographic styles. The Canon EOS 70D’s sensor can record both JPEG files, in a number of compression levels to suit the project and card size, and uncompressed Raw for extensive editing and large print sizes. In lower light conditions the sensitivity can be increased to compensate, up to an ISO rating of 12800 or alternatively the built-in flash or a Canon Speedlite can be used where required. The 3 inch Live View LCD screen can be rotated for high and low angle shooting, which makes taking shots over crowds and macro photography far easier. Being a touch screen also means controls can be rapidly accessed, and the touch focus and shutter feature allows for images to be taken with a single press. The screen can also be used when recording HD video, which benefits from the Dual Pixel CMOS AF, giving constant autofocus for the duration. The stills recording side has both a 63-zone metering system for accurate exposure calculation even in varied lighting conditions, and a 19 point Cross-Type AF system for ultimate accuracy. When shooting action or sports the 7fps burst mode comes in especially handy, being able to capture a fast moving subject through a series of images. The built-in HDR mode combines multiple images, taken at different exposure settings, into one image and the electronic horizon level ensures each shot taken is horizontal.
